about powRpoles™

I was 54 years old with two bad knees and awaiting bilateral knee replacements. I started using trekking poles prior to surgery, in order to walk as far as I could, without falling and the poles unloaded the pressure in my knees.

After my surgery and when I was finally able to wean off my walker, I continued my walking program with my poles. I was going further and faster and with the poles I had the stability that lowered the risk of falling. But then I wanted more out of my walking program—more resistance which means more strength and even more calories burned. Running was not an option and carrying weights meant giving up my poles. Putting weights on my ankles IS NEVER an option so I began adding weights on my poles, redesigning a weighted handgrip assembly that provides proximal weight and control. Designed with multi-positional grip areas and functional cavity for storage of extra rubber tip.

Thus the PATENTED variable weighted walking poles, powRpoles™, was created receiving the Design Patent in 2023 and Utility Patent in 2024. It has been a nine year journey and I've been blessed to have worked with so many talented individuals, especially Robert and Peter from LS4 3D Printing out of San Antonio. Bringing to the fitness market an exercise product that exemplifies “fitness not a fad”.
